Mace C. Golden, Ph.D. – President
Dr. Golden received his BS in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the University of Washington in 1987 and his MS in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado State University in 1992. He was awarded his doctorate in Chemistry from the University of Colorado in 1999. Dr. Golden served 20 years as an active duty Air Force officer from 1988 to 2008 with duty assignments as a Peacekeeper missile launch officer, an associate professor of chemistry at the USAF Academy and chief of a sensor research and development laboratory. In 2001 he received the Frank J. Seiler Award for Outstanding Research – Basic Sciences Division at the USAFA for his work in synthesizing modified nucleic acid bases for use in thermal covalent combinatorial DNA libraries. As the sensor lab chief, he conceived and led development of several ground-breaking projects for which he received the NSA Scientific Achievement Award and was named the 2004 USAF Outstanding Scientist of the Year – Senior Military Category. One of these efforts included an electronic sensor platform from Pericle Communications Company, the predecessor to Augustus Aerospace. After retiring from active duty, he worked for Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company. for three years and then n-ask, Inc. for almost eight years. During this time, he continued to develop revolutionary exploitation concepts and capabilities. Many of these efforts featured systems designed by Augustus Aerospace including high performance and low SWaP payloads and ground components critical to four separate SmallSat programs. Given their long and successful relationship, it was only natural that Dr. Golden should join Augustus Aerospace as their president.
